A third Briton has been confirmed in F1

January 23, 2011

The Scott of Paul Di Resta has been confirmed as the third Briton that will compete in Formula 1 in the 2011 season. The 24-year old will partner Adrian Sutil in the Force India team. It is believed that the Scott will replace the Italian of Vitantonio Liuzzi. It is also believed that the Italian will not be completely removed from the team, but that he will replace Di Resta as the reserve driver. When Force India was asked about the subject by reporters, team officials refused to comment. Di Resta, who is a Mercedes protégé and won the DTM German Touring Car Championship for the marque in 2010, impressed Force India while driving in Friday morning practice sessions and the team have decided they have to give him a race seat. However, Liuzzi has a firm contract for 2011 and talks to resolve the situation are yet to be concluded.

Lotus: we must score points in 2011..

January 18, 2011

The Lotus team (Team Lotus) have announced that they must score points in 2011. They are under pressure to prove that they are making progress after a successful debut season last year. Lotus finished 10th overall in the 2010 season, behind Torro Rosso and BMW Sauber. they also finished ahed of the other new teams (Hispania and Virgin) and were awarded the best of new team aword. Chief executive officer Riad Asmat told BBC reporters "This year, I've got shareholders on my neck saying it's points time. We know where we need to be - that's running with Toro Rosso and Sauber." The team are owned by Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes - the owner of the Air Asia airline - and his fellow shareholders Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin. They invested a budget of approximately £50m in the team in 2010 as the start of a five-year programme that they hope will end with them winning races. The outfit competed under the name Lotus Racing in their debut season last year but have adopted the historic Team Lotus moniker after buying the rights to the name.

Finally, HD has come!!

January 12, 2011

Finally, High Definition (HD) broadcasting has come to Formula 1. The Formula 1 management (FOM) has confirmed that they will defiantly be broadcasting in HD from the season opening race at Bahrain. The FOM have been doing extensive research on bringing F1 in HD for the past 2 years, and now they have made the decision to do it! The problem that the FOM was having when they started the research was getting small enough HD camera's that could with stand the G force of high speed cornering, to fit into the onboard camera's on the cars. The FOM found the solution to this problem, and have now confirmed the move from standard to HD. The HD feed will be available to allF1 broadcasters around the world, and many major broadcasters (such as BBC) have confirmed that they will use the feed in its HD form. The only thing that we will have to worry about now, is Eddie Jordan and his outrageously collared   shirts blind us in HD (joking)

The rubbish Lejard is gone!!

January 11, 2011

The rubbish Lejard is gone! Now the awesome commentators Brundel and Coulthard will take the helm of the com box and they promise to produce amazing commentary. As Lejard has been sacked, Brundel will now become lead commenter.  And therefore, Coulthard will become support commentator. I personally believe this is an awesome combination. The only bad thing about this is, im going to have to choose between the awesome commentary of the 5live crew Croft and Davidson, and the should be awesome commentary of Brundel and Coulthard. Apparently, Brundel and Coulthard have done screen tests and the out come has been ‘phenomenal’ and although I am already excited for the upcoming season, this just takes it to a whole new level! I hope you guy’s will enjoy it as much as im sure I will.

The race track engineer at Ferrari has been replaced due to Alonso's failiur to win the championship...

January 5, 2011

The race track engineer at Ferrari has been replaced due to Alonso's failure to win the championship. The team say that the previous engineer, Chris Dyer, will have his role in the team will be redefined due to messing up Fernando Alonso's strategy at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which then cost hit the championship. The team say changes needed to be done; especially when this big of an error has been made. Fernando Alonso has been very upset since the Grand Prix, and personally, I think Ferrari deserve it for their team orders scandal.

January 1, 2011

The 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has announced that he hasn’t been happy in Formula 1 this year. He say's that he has had some personal issues this year. Hamilton said in an interview on Radio 1: "[In my] personal life, the way things have gone hasn't been as smooth and as happy as in the past. "[When] you've not got all the pieces in place it makes it very hard to do other aspects of your life as easily." The former World Champion's problems started when he split from his American girlfriend and Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger. Also, at the beginning of the year, Hamilton announced that his father Anthony, who had guided his career since he was eight years old, would no longer act as his manager. Later that month, Hamilton was charged with improper use of a vehicle after performing stunts in a road car during the Australian Grand Prix weekend. Formula 1 is set for some radical changes by........

December 23, 2010

Formula 1 is set for some radical changes by 2013 as bosses intend to make the sport more exciting and more efficient. One of the changes that were announced was for much smaller wings. Also the teams are set for specially designed floors so that they will generate down force differently. They will use 35% less fuel, and may be a little bit slower, but should make overtaking a lot easier. The draft regulations, which were requested by the FIA, are to be sent to teams this week before a meeting in January for F1's Technical Working Group, which scopes out rule changes. The Technical Working Group has heads of each team, and they will discus the proposal and will suggest any changes that they feel may have to be made.  I think these are brilliant ideas and will far improve the sport. This rule change is a lot better than the usual FIA proposal's, they're proposal's are usually rubbish!

It has been confirmed that petrov....

December 22, 2010

It has been confirmed that petrov will stay at Renault in the 2011 series. And he wont just be there for the 2011 series, he will also be there in the 2012 series to! Earlier this year there was doubt that the Russian would even be in Formula 1 in 2011, let alone a big team like Renault, especually after his poor performance at the beggining and the middle of the year. The 26-year old told reports earlier on today "It feels great,"  "I learned so much this year and I can come back stronger. I'm determined to repay the faith they have shown in me."

Tony Fernandes admits he has been....

December 17, 2010

The Team Lotus owner Tony Fernandes has admited he has been bullied over the Lotus naming row. He told reporters "the Renault-backed Lotus has been using 'bully-boy tactics' against me." Group Lotus has become Renault's title sponser after terminating a licensing agreement with Tony Fernandes. Fernandes told reporters "I've never seen such a barrage of comments from a group of people. It has annoyed me. It's a little bit of bully-boy tactics" Currently both teams are in a Legal battle against each other, it is likely that neither team will win. This is due to both teams having the rights to their names, although Group Lotus own their car production name, Team Lotus own their race team name!!

Tougher penalty's for 2011!

December 16, 2010

The FIA have announced that there WILL be tougher punishments if drivers chose to break the rules in 2011. The FIA say that if or when a driver breaks a rule, they will get a punishment, and it could be a major punishment. If there is a driver driving dangerously or in an unsportsmanlike like behaviour, then the driver will face tough and strict punishments. I personally think that this is a great idea, it will make the sport safer and it will cause less retirement due to driver error while overtaking. As some of u may know im not always a big fan when the FIA change rules, but this one is actually good. The FIA did this due to the incident that happened in Hungary between Michel Schumacher and Rubens Barichelo earlier on this year.

More rule changes! And this 1 is a biggy!!

December 14, 2010

More rule changes! And this 1 is a biggy!! The FIA have made it legal for body parts to move on a car while moving!!!! This must be great for Adrian Newey, no need for him to design something very Illegal that bends! But back to the point, the FiA announced this in a way to "aid overtaking" what the hell is wrong with them!! they say they want to cut costs, and then they bring this stupid rule in! its just as much of a stupid rule as is banning double diffucers! im not happy with those people in the FIA, talk about trying to ruin a sport! o well, lets see if it pays off

There is a new World Champion!

December 11, 2010

There is a new world champion! Button is now classed as a former world champion, and Vettel is officially classed as the modern Formula One Drivers World Champion! Now I know you’re all thinking “that’s old new” but it actually isn’t as it was made official on Friday night in the crowning ceremony in Monaco! Also, it wasn’t just Vettel who gained a championship on Friday night; Red Bull also gained their Constructors World Championship after only being in the sport for 4 years!! Now, I may not be Red Bull’s biggest fan after what they have done this season (Flexible front wing, crashing into each other, reliability etc.) but, to be fair to them, they were the fastest car out on the track this season. So well done to them!!!! They do kind of deserve it!

Greener engines for 2013

December 11, 2010

The FIA has announced that there will be greener engines from 2013 onwards. The FIA will drop the V8 engines that they use now for a more fuel efficient 4 cylinder 1.6 engines.  These engines deliver a 35% reduction in fuel consumption whilst still delivering the same performance as the current engines. Also, with the new engines there will be a new rev limit rule. The rev limit will be lowered from 18,000 rpm to 11,000rpm which is a major change! Now, I think you all know im not always a fan when the FIA change rules, but I am all for this, I think this is a great idea!!

TEAM ORDERS SHOCKER!!!

December 10, 2010

THERE IS A TEAM ORDERS SHOCKER!!! Today the FIA has announced that team orders will be made LEGAL for the 2011 season!! They did this today when the FIA met in Monaco to finalise the regulations for the 2011 season! I bet Nico Rossberg can’t wait to be Schumacher's support act! I have got to say, I was surprised when i heard this earlier, I was so surprised that I was checking if the f1 website had been hacked! That’s why I am late doing this news story! But, I’m sure Ferrari is so happy, mind you, it’s not like the rule stopped them is it.
